Thread: Finding out what an x and Y coordinate is

I'm assuming that i need to find the slope since they are parallel?? Then i'm lost?? i could count over and easily find what they are but... I need to know how without doing that?? THANKS.

slopes of parallel lines are equal.

step 1. use the slope formula to find the slope between the two points of the lower line.

step 2. use the slope formula between (-2,5) and (x,0), set it equal to the slope you found in step 1 and solve for x.

step 3. do the same thing using (-2,5) and (3,y), just solve for y.

Remember that cordinates are (x,y). You main problem in this equation might be determining which x value is your is second x, and wihich is your first

Your slope will be the result of subtracting the correct values.
