    Surveillance Satellites...Part A

A suveillance satellite circles Earth at a height of h miles above the surface. Suppose that d is the distance, in miles, on the surface of Earth that can be observed from the satellite.

    (a) Find an equation that relates the central angle theta to the height h.

    (b) Find an equation that relates the observable distance d and theta.

    (c) Find an equation that relates d and h.

NOTE: radius of Earth is given to be 3960 miles

Have you drawn a diagram? See the diagram in this thread

(And you might suggest to your teacher that they join the rest of the world in the 21st Century and change to SI units rather that continuing to loiter in the 19th Century with US customary units)

What is the relationship between the graph you provided and my questions about the surveillance satellite? No one has been able to help me with these two questions?
