I'm kinda confused. How can I transform this given problems?

1.) y=mx + b
m=?
x=?
b=?

2.) A= ¶ r^2
r=?

3.) 3x + 5y = 10
x=?
y=?

4.) E = I/R
I=?
R=?

5.) J = US^2 / TIN
S=?
T=?
N=?

These are called literal equations since you are solving for a single variable with respect to other variables and constants. You solve these in the same manner as you would solve an equation in one variable. Isolate the variable in question and display the results in terms of the other variables and constants.

$y=mx+b$ Solve for m

First, subtract b from both sides

$y-b=mx$

Second, divide both sides by x thus isolating the variable m

$\frac{y-b}{x}=m$

Use the Symmetric Property of Equality to get:

$m=\frac{y-b}{x}$

Use similar techniques to solve for b and x

----------------------------------------------

$A=\pi r^2$ Solve for r

First, divide both sides by $\pi$

$\frac{A}{\pi}=r^2$

Second, take the square root of both sides

$\sqrt{\frac{A}{\pi}}=r$

Symmetric Property yields:

$r=\sqrt{\frac{A}{\pi}}$

---------------------------------------------

Try the next 3 and see how you do. I'm not sure about your notation for number 5. Could you use some grouping symbols () to clarify. Thanks.
