This is the graph of a parabola.

You can determine the type of conic section from the equation of the form:

Ax^2 + Bxy + Cy^2 + Dx + Ey + F = 0

If A=0 or C=0, but not both, then it's a parabola

If A = C, then it's a circle

If A and C have the same sign and A not equal C, then it's an ellipse

If A and C have opposite signs, then it's a hyperbola.
