    If this is your equation:

    f(x)=\frac{4}{x-8}

    Then, there is only one asymptote at x=8

    Hi !

    f(x)=\frac{8}{x-8}+4

    There's a vertical asymptot at x=8 (this will be the equation of the asymptot actually...) and when x tends to infinity (both sides), there is an horizontal asymptot.

    \lim_{x \to \pm \infty} \frac{8}{8-x}+4=\dots \ ?

    Edit : fasters !

    Edit: Had trouble untying OP's original function. Missed the 8.
