Mabel is offered a job selling magazine subscriptions. She has the choice of two pay scales.
Pay Scale 1:
She can be paid $0.65 for each subscription she sells.
Pay Scale 2:
She can be paid $0.10 for the first subscription, with the wage going up $0.05 more for each subscription after the first. For her first sale she would make $0.10, for her second sale she would make $0.15, for her third sale she would make $0.20, and so on.
Analyze and compare the two pay scales. Which pay scale is better? Explain your reasoning. include the general term and some specific calculations in your analysis.
what I have so far is for pay scale 1
now all I really need help with is figuring out what to use for pay scale 2.
For 0.65, f(x) = 0.65x.
For the other scale, g(x) = 0.05 + 0.05x.

Draw a graph and decide what is best deal by comparing.
I don't plan to draw the graph, but it is relatively simple.
The criteria for "which is best" can then be determined.
Or if you prefer lists of numbers, you can compare f(x) to g(x) for increasing values of x.
The graph is more fun because you will get a feel for how the functions behave just by looking at the graphs on same coordinate system.
