you do know what $e^x$ looks like, right?

how do you find the range of y = 2^x -1
$2^x$ has a horizontal asymptote at the x-axis. so the range for $2^x$ is $(0, \infty)$

$2^x - 1$ means you shift $2^x$ down 1 unit. The asymptote shifts this much as well. so what is the range now

i hope you mean $2^x - 1$ as you typed, as opposed to $2^{x - 1}$
