i have this question from my year 11 maths B assignment that i do not completely know how to solve.. i was wondering if i could get some help thankyou..

the equation of line of best fit was:
y=.00007x[4] - 0.0006x[3] - 0.04x[2] + 0.7164x + 0.3863

what do i do with this equation?

it was given with a graph, i have just found the answer for it but i was wondering would you be able to explain what the line of best fit is please i cannot find the definition that explains it well enough for me to understand, can you help me?

A line of best fit takes a lot of points of data...and it says "What line gets closest to containing all these points?"

For example if I said make a best fit line for this chart

y|1 2 4 4.2
x|1 2 3 4

You can see this closely resembles the line y=x...so this takes the points and makes a curve/function that "best fits" the data points

oh ok i think i get it now. thankyou for helping me, much appreciated! so if i was given 2 equations of the line of best fit for 2 different sets of data, wat do i need to do with them, do i put them into a graph or do i just leave them? on the assignment it hasnt got anything to tell me what i have to do with them.

I dont know your assignment..but given two graphs you usually find the point of intersection
