    solve the logarithmic equation

    log(x+2)=log(5x-3)

    Exponentiate both sides with respect to base 10. This way, the logs will cancel out because 10^{\log(\text{JUNK})} = \text{JUNK}

    x+2=5x-3

    4x = 5

    x = 1.25
