I normally wouldn't be asking this, but we never went over this type of problem in class. Watch it be something obvious.

I have to find a vector v given magnitude:

||v|| = 5

and direction:

u = <3, 3>

No clue what to do. I tried to find the unit vector of <3, 3>. Obviously that didn't work because I got a completely different vector than what is given as the answer.

2. $\left\| u \right\| = 3\sqrt 2 \quad \mbox{then}\quad v = \frac{5}{{3\sqrt 2 }}u = \left\langle {\frac{5}{{\sqrt 2 }},\frac{5}{{\sqrt 2 }}} \right\rangle
$

3. Wait....how did you get ||u|| = $3\sqrt 2$?

EDIT: Nevermind. I figured out that you took the magnitude of u.

4. $\sqrt {\left( 3 \right)^2 + \left( 3 \right)^2 } = \sqrt {2\left( 3 \right)^2 } = 3\sqrt 2
