# Math Help - Finding the slope and y-intercept

1. ## Finding the slope and y-intercept

11. State whether each function is linear or non-linear. If the function is linear, identify its slope and y-intercept.

a. $y=5x-2$
b. $y=x^2$
c. $x=4y$

My teacher kinda skipped on how to find the slope and the x/y-intercept of a function, and I couldn't really find a proper lesson. Can anyone explain?

For y = mx + c:

m is the slope.

c is the y-intercept

3. Hello
A. Yes
slope is 5/1 and y intercept is -2
B. No
C. Yes
slope is 1/1 and y intercept is 0

Ax+By=C
A. you woul have to subtract -5x to the left side to see if it makes the equation and it did.
B. it did not make the equation because when you take x2 to the left side x was squared and it needs to be the power of one.
C. subtract -4y to the left. then u have x-4y=0 then divide -4 from y and 0. that leaves u with x+y=0
