    Logs

    Solve the equation for x

    (1/2)log(x+2) + log5=1

Books answer is 2. My process must be off or something because I keep getting x=18.

    \frac 12 \log (x + 2) + \log 5 = 1

    \Rightarrow \log \sqrt{x + 2} + \log 5 = 1

    \Rightarrow \log (5 \sqrt{x + 2}) = 1

    now continue
