    f(x) = number of branches

A maple tree has 3 branch buds at the end of each branch and 2 at each years growth of that branch. At the end of the branch 1 bud lengthens the branch and the other 2 make there be more branches. Describe this with a function and is the growth exponential?

You will need to explain what is meant by "each years growth of that branch".

Each and every year the branch grows there is at the end of the branch 3 branch buds. There are also 2 branch buds at the places where growth stopped in the previous years. That is what I mean by "each years growth of that branch"
