I'm trying to figure out the problem: X + 3Y > -1

So far I have 3Y > -X-1

This is where my problem is, I havent done these in so long..

When I divide the 3 from the Y so that the Y is by itself, does the slope become -X/3, so that the answer is Y>-X/3 + 1/3, or does the slope become -1/3X, so that the answer is Y>-1/3X + 1/3?

Thanks for the help this has been driving me nuts :mad:

the slope is the coefficient of X, which means it is just the number -1/3.

it doesn't matter at all whether you write -X/3 or (-1/3)X, they are exactly the same thing

Ok, and now that I have -1/3X, the rise of that slope is -1. and the run is 3, correct?

yeah. (well, technically it's not a rise, it's a fall, but whatever)
