    several questions-logs/natural logs

    1. e=?
    2. log e=?
    3. log (base 5) 1=?
    4. log (base 7) 9=?

    we went over this a few weeks ago, and i don't remember. thanks in advance.

    you mean log to the base 10 here, right?

    \log_{10}e = \frac {\ln e}{\ln 10} = \frac 1{\ln 10}

    now punch that into your calculator.

    3. log (base 5) 1=?
    \log_5 1 = 0

    the log of 1 is zero, no matter what the base is

    4. log (base 7) 9=?
    same as the second one.

    \log_79 = \frac {\log 9}{\log 7} = punch it into your calculator and see what you get
