    Permutation Baseball question

The final score of a baseball game was 7-4 how many scores are possible after the 5th inning-

I did not get far with this question so pardon me for not having alot of work shown, what i tried to do was count how many points total there were which is 11( 7+4) from there i know there are 9 innings in a game and they wonder anything after the 5th inning so 4 innings to choose from so, i did 11P4. I know this is wrong that is why i need help!

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT- sorry to throw in another question but i have not the slightest clue as to get the right answer write an expression for N (nC2) i just use the formula and expand N!/2!(n-2)! That is wrong though please help.

    Re: Permutation Baseball question

Knowing that the final score was 7-4 means that at inning 5 the winning team had somewhere between 0 and 7 runs and the losing team had somewhere between 0 and 4. That's 8 possibilities for the winning team and 5 for the losing team, or 8 x 5 = 40 total possibilities.

As for the second question - what you wrote is the calculation for NC2, but I'm not sure what you meant by "write an expression for N (nC2)."
    Thanks from Gurp925
