please help i thought i had this one all figured out but i was wrong
ok here is my question that i am trying to solve, ive tried solving it but my answer is always wrong so if anyone has any idea what it is please share and thank you so much. (Rofl)
A baseball team plays in a stadium that holds 60,000 spectators. With the ticket price at $10, the average attendance at recent games has been 30,000. A market survey indicates that for every dollar the ticket price is lowered, attendance increases by 2000.(a) Find a function that models the revenue in terms of ticket price. (Let x be the ticket price and R(x) be the revenue.)
Re: please help i thought i had this one all figured out but i was wrong
a) f(x)= (30,000+2000x)(10-x)
I believe this is it.
Re: please help i thought i had this one all figured out but i was wrong
If you don't explain HOW you got the answer or, at least, tell why you "believe this is right", there really isn't much point in just giving a result.
jenlee, let "P" be the cost of a ticket. Then 10- x is the number of dollars the price has decreased from $10 (or increases if x is negative). if "With the ticket price at $10, the average attendance at recent games has been 30,000. A market survey indicates that for every dollar the ticket price is lowered, attendance increases by 2000", then the attendance is 3000+ 2000(10- x). Since each of those pays 10- x dollars for a ticket, the revenue is R(x)= [30000+ 2000(10- x)]x. You may want to multiply that out to give it in its simplest form.

ok thank you both for your help but when i did the problem and i completed it by multiplying it out i got -50,000x^2+2,000x and the answer key says i am still wrong. i also tried it with 50,000x^2 +2,000x and this is also wrong any ideas what i did wrong now thanks
