    How to graph exponential functions?

    Graph the following exponential functions. Include tables of values.

    a. f(x) = 5^x
    b. f(x) = (1/4)^x

    How to start solving? Thanks in advance.

    Re: How to graph exponential functions?

    for y = 5^x , plot a few ordered pairs ...

    \left(-2, \frac{1}{25}\right) , \left(-1, \frac{1}{5}\right) , (0,1) , (1,5) , (2,25)

    ... connect with a smooth curve

    now do the same for y = 4^{-x}

    fyi, you should make yourself familiar with the general shape of the exponential functions y = a^x and y = a^{-x} , for values of a > 1 and for 0 < a < 1
