Thread: how do i find an equation for the hyperbola

i know how to get h and k but i dont know how to get a^2 and b^2===>

a is the distance from center to vertex. So a = 1, and a² = 1.


c is the distance from center to focus. So c = 3, and c² = 9.


Also rememver that b² = c² - a².
