Let r = log6 17, s = log4 17, t = log6 4.

Write the following expressions in terms of r, s, and/or t. The change of base formula may be helpful in finding some of these logarithms.

By the change of base formula, we have that:

$\log_{16}17 = \frac {\log_4 17}{\log_4 16} = \frac s{2}$

we have:

$\log_4 17 \left( 6^{\log_{36} 4}\right) = s \left( 6^{\frac {\log_6 4}{\log_6 36}} \right)$ ....by the change of base formula

So we get: $\log_4 17 \left( 6^{\log_{36} 4}\right) = s \left( 6^{\frac t{2}} \right)$

3. yeah thanks i got those, but apparently the second one is not right. my friend told me it was s+.5 but he got help from someone, so he wasn't able to explain it to me, so I don't know how that is the answer. any ideas?

that answer is wrong. the final answer for the last one is 2s. i left the t in there at first because of the way the question was worded

well, maybe you made a typo in the question here. you had a product or terms, i don't see how you ended up with a sum like that, and in particular, that sum

7. lol dude i didnt. the answer u put was in fact the same one I got from the tutor I went to, I think the webassign is wrong maybe
