# Thread: Simplify. Write each as a single power. Do not evaluate.

1. ## Simplify. Write each as a single power. Do not evaluate.

Hi guys,

That is the task: Simplify. Write each as a single power. Do not evaluate.

1. (3/5)^9 (3/5)^15
= (3^9/5^9) (3^15/5^15)
= 3^24/5^24

Is that the right answer?

2. (-Q)^2 (-Q)^5 (-Q)
= (-Q^2) (-Q^5) (-Q)
= -Q^8

Is that the right answer?

3. (-2)^7
-------
(-2)^3

= (-2)^4

Is that the right answer?

2. ## Re: Simplify. Write each as a single power. Do not evaluate.

Your results are correct. But, note that the exercise wants you to express all the results as number raised to single power so you need to further simplify you results.

can be written as $(\frac{3}{5})^{24}$.

can be written as $(-1.Q)^8 = (-1)^8 Q^8 = Q^8$.

Repeat the same in the third case a well.

so the third case would be= (-1.2)^4 = (-1)^4 2^4 = 2^4

Is that right?
