Analyze and graph another polynomial function?
This is another one similar to the first one. Again, I have a bunch of problems to do and was hoping I could get an example to go by. Thanks!
Analyze and graph the polynomial function f(x) = (x+5)^2(x+2)(x-1) by filling in the following information:
1. End behavior?
2. x-intercept(s) and multiplicity?
3. y-intercept(s)?
4. Approximate turning points?
5. Domain and Range?
6. Increasing and decreasing intervals?
Re: Analyze and graph another polynomial function?
When x is large and positive f(x) approaches x^4 as it does when x is large and negative
f(x)=0 when x=-5, -2 and 1 so these are the x intercepts
When x=0 f(x)= -50 so this is the y intercept
Re: Analyze and graph another polynomial function?
1. Even
2. x=1, x=-5, x=-2
3. y=-50
4. x~.5,x~-2.5
5. Domain is all Real Number; Range is -50>= all Real Numbers
6. [-infinity,-5) (-5,-2),(-2,-50),(-50,infinity]
Re: Analyze and graph another polynomial function?
Since you had just done "another one similar" problem, why would you feel you were not able to do anything on this? Did you not, at least, learn what "x-intercept" and "y-intercept" mean? You certainly should have been able to do those easily.
