Thread: Calculating relative value based in a total

HiNot sure of this post in the right place, but stick with me I'm new!!Here's the problem; I am trying to calculate the value of two types of vehicle recovery based in a total spend and the numbers of each recovery completed.As an example;Total Spend £18,000Number of Type A Recov = 7Number of Type B Recov = 2Rather than just an average figure for cost I want to use the fact that I know that Type A recoveries cost exactly 2.25 times more than Type BCan I use this to work out a relative cost per recovery based on type??Also any suggestions if this post should be elsewhereThanks, Matt

You are given that "type A recoveries" cost 2.25 times as much as "type b recoveries"? Okay, let "B" represent the cost of a single "type B recovery". The cost of a single "type A recovery" will be 2.25B. There were 7 "type A" recoveries so the total cost of "type A" recoveries will be 7(2.25 B)= 15.75 B. There were two "type B recoveries" so the total cost of "type B recoveries" would be 2B. The total cost would be 15.75B+ 2B= 17.75B= 18000. Can you solve for B and then A?
