Thread: Matching a funtion to its traces...?

Consider the function

f(x,y)= (2y^3−x^2) / (10)

Which graph below corresponds to the following traces:

1. The trace for x=−0.3
2. The trace for x=1
3. The trace for x=−1.8

The simplest thing to do is to try each one.

If x= - 0.3,

If x= 1,

If x= -1.8,

Now, you might try evaluating at y= 0, y= 1 to see which corresponds to which graph.
