Thread: Formula For Calculating Ratings of Products?

Hi Friends,

We are starting an price comparison website of online products which compares the prices of various products in online stores.We need help in comparing ratings of a product.Please go through below scenario

Product A:
This product having 100 reviews from the customers and rating is 4.0.

Product B:
This product having only 5 reviews from the customers and rating is 5.0.

In the above case how can I decide which product is good or quality one.Based upon the ratings(4.0 and 5.0),we cant judge product B is good.On what parameter I should evaluate the product quality.Please help me friends,I need a formula to calculate the accurate rating for the products.Its will be a big help to us.

I assume the ratings are averages (out of 5 seems to be the internet standard). If so do we have a breakdown of how many people gave which rating.

That being said I see no problem with presenting the raw data and letting a potential customer decide which is better for them. It could simply be that B has only been out a week or so
