    conical paper cup

    How deep is the water in a conical paper cup that is filled to half of its capacity?

    Is my answer correct?

    The answer is correct, but the proof should be general. Assume that the dimensions of the cone are R and H and the dimensions of the part occupied by water are r and h. Since these figures are similar, R / r = H / h. Write the ratio of volumes, equate it to 1/2 and find h / H.
