    If the distance from the point (5,k) to the line 5x - 12y + 8 = 0 is 15, find k.

    The distance from this point to this line is:
    \frac{| 5(5) - 12 (k)-8|}{\sqrt{5^2+12^2}} = 15.
    Now solve.
