    simultaneous equations

    Hi;
    I have 4y^2 + 34x +y -52 =0 and 2x + y - 4 =0.

    Which I get to 16x^2 -32x + 16 =0

    Which factors to (4x - 4)(4x - 4) = 0

    Giving a result of (1 , 1).

    But the answer is stated as (1 ,2) can't see where I went wrong any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Re: simultaneous equations

    What you've done is fine! You have found x=1 so y=...? (Enter x in one of the equations and find y).
