Determine the value of a (element) of R if -root3i is to be a zero of a+z^2 = a-11/z^2. the answer is a=5, but the book says nothing about this im lost

Hi Barney,

I hope you mean that $-i\sqrt{3}$ satisfies the equation, $a+z^2=\dfrac{a-11}{z^2}$ . So substitute $z=-i\sqrt{3}$ to the equation and find the value of a.
