Straight line graph
Quote:

On the grid, draw the straight lines

y = 1, x = 2 and
5x + 6y = 30

I've got no idea what they want me to do here. You don't need to draw a graph, please just help explain it to me.

Thanks

Hi yorkey,

Let us take your first equation, y=1. That is whatever x value (independent variable) you choose the y value(dependent variable) is equal to 1. Hence you should get a line parrallel to the x axis as shown in the diagram below. Hope you understood. Now can you try to draw the next line.

x=2 will be a vertical line coming down from 2?

Yes.

(I strongly advise that you review your class notes or textbook for examples on how to draw lines).

Two points determine a line.

5x+ 6y= 0. When x= 0, what is y? When y= 0, what is x?

Mark those two points and draw the line through them.
