    Given log(2) = .3 and log(3) = .47, what is log(5)?

    Did you solve it like this?

    \log(5) \;=\;\log\left(\dfrac{10}{5}\right) \;=\;\log(10) - \log(2) \;=\;1 - 0.3 \;=\; 0.7
