the graph is undefined when x = 2 as we can see from the picture. it means the denominator is zero when x = 2

so we must have 2(2) - a = 0

=> a = 4

3. At x=2 we have a vertical asymptote so the denoimator is zero there. Hence 2x - a =0 at x=2 thus 4 - a =0 hence a =4
