I'm not seeing why you would have to post on a forum to get the answer.
The 5000 telephones are irrelevent and are probably just there to distract you.
The actual question is quite simple:
"If 400 000 phone calls are made by 20 000 people, how many phone calls did and average person make?"
The 5000 phones distracted me. Isn't this the norm in terms of word problems? In my opinion, word problems can be better worded.
