(a) Remember that taking the square root is the same thing as raising to the 1/2 power: $\displaystyle \sqrt{a} = a^{1/2}$ (b) Use the product of radicals property to start: $\displaystyle \sqrt{a} \cdot \sqrt{b} = \sqrt{ab}$
