This may be a silly question, but I'm just wondering why the arcsins cannot handle anything above 1 or below 01

2. You can solve it by plotting a right triangle and using the definition of sine or cosine (How?)

Maybe my rationale is too far out to be acceptable?

5. At the risk of opening a can of worms, I should point out that you can compute the arcsin in question, if you allow complex answers. However, if you want to stay in the reals, then you're confined to computing the arcsin of values between -1 and +1, inclusive.
