Help with question involving surds
Hi hi!

My first time & first post here.

Trying my best to post this in the correct forum...

Could do with lots of help with this question:

With a calculator's help, I fould the answer to be 1 (x tends to 3; y tends to 2).

Is there a "working" that can be applied apart from simply using the calculator repeatedly?

Hi

You can see that $\displaystyle x^2-6=x$ which means that x is solution of $\displaystyle x^2-x-6=0$ which has 2 solutions x=3 or x=-2. But x cannot be negative therefore x=3

The same for y leads to y=2
