    Finding the Equation of the Hyperbola

    Vertices at (3,4) and (3,8) passing through the point with coordinates (-1,-6)

    From the coordinates of the vertices you can immediately get the coordinates of the centre. Substitute this into the standard form of the equation. Now substitute (3, 4) and (-1, -6) into the standard form of the equation, get simultaneous equations for the two things you still don't know etc. ....
