If I am given the coordinates of the vertex of a parabola and the coordinatesof a point that it passes through, how do I find the equation?

$y = a(x-h)^2 + k<br />$

$(h,k)$ is the vertex

$(x_1,y_1)$ is the given point ... sub in $x_1$ for $x$ and $y_1$ for $y$ and calculate the coefficient $a$ .
