    Help with Quadratic Function Equations please

    If I am given the coordinates of the vertex of a parabola and the coordinatesof a point that it passes through, how do I find the equation?

    y = a(x-h)^2 + k<br />

    (h,k) is the vertex

    (x_1,y_1) is the given point ... sub in x_1 for x and y_1 for y and calculate the coefficient a .
