    Lill vector prob

    Hiy guys,
    Could anyone help me with this vector prob..

    if u1 is a column vector [1 2]

    w1 = u1/|u1| = 1/ √5 * column vector [1 2]

    My question is ,where do we get the 1 from?
    Do we always just put one over the modulus of the vector ?

    Thanks and any help will be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Amazedxxx

    The 1 is there because we are dividing by |u1|, which is a scalar. I's the same concept as the 1 in following:
    x/3 = (1/3)*x
