10. For the function y = x2, compute the average rate of change between x = 0 and x = 3. sorry wrong place!

My answer is 9/2... I just wanted to see if that was correct, if what are the correct steps to solve this problem?

Let y = f(x) = x^2.

The answer, by definition, is $\frac{f(3) - f(0)}{3 - 0} = ....$

Mr. Fantastic, is the reasoning correct?
Did he mean $x^2$ or 2x?

To answer this question if 2x, it should be 2.

D = R * T $\implies$ R = $\frac {D}{T}$

Let D = y, R = R, and T = x
Let x = 0 be the initial and x = 3 be final

Then R = $\frac {\Delta Y} {\Delta X}$

Then ...
R = $\frac {0 - 6}{0 - 3}$

R = $\frac {-6}{-3}$

R= 2
