Thats what i get
\frac{a}{3} + 1 + \frac{a}{6} - \frac{1}{2} = 5

\frac{a}{3} + \frac{a}{6} = \frac{9}{2}

\frac{3a}{6} = \frac{9}{2}

a = 9
