    Factor Help

    hey everyone i need help figuring this out

    X^2+X+1=0 i need to factor that out.

    I don't think thats factor-able.

    There are no integer numbers that multiply to give you 1 and add up to 1.

    It does have imaginary roots, but unless you've dealt with finding the square root of a negative number, you shouldn't need to worry about that.

    .. and your teacher will ask how you know.

    Complete the square and show that to proceed further would require taking the square root of -1

    .. or if you know the quadratic formula show that the discriminant is negative.
