    Absolute Value into Piece-Wise Function

    Hey guys, I'm really confused on how to express an absolute value into a piece-wise function. Such as:

    |x-4|

    |x-4|=\left\{\begin{array}{ll}x-4, & x-4\geq 0\\-x+4, & x-4<0\end{array}\right.=\left\{\begin{array}{ll}x-4, & x\geq 4\\-x+4, & x<4\end{array}\right.
