$x^{1/2}=\sqrt{x}$

$x^{1/3}=\sqrt[3]{x}$

$x^{1/4}=\sqrt[4]{x}$

$(27)^{1/3}=3$

Get the picture?

So.................. $(8)^{?}=2$ ?

5. Not really .

$\log_8 2 = x \Rightarrow 8^x = 2 \Rightarrow (2^3)^x = 2 \Rightarrow 2^{3x} = 2 \Rightarrow 2^{3x} = 2^1$ .... Solve for x.

7. Ah, ok. We went through this in class and he got 3 :\.

log2^8
8=s^y
2^3=2^y
y=3

That's not the question that was asked. Can you get the answer to the question that was asked by solving for x in my previous post?
