Math Help - Word Problem

    Word Problem

    This is suppose to be a quadratic word problem.

    The length of a rectangle is 4 cm less than the width. find the Dimensions if the are is 96.

    Would this be right?

    (x+4)*(2x)= 96

    Then FOIL and solve using quadratic?

    Please post the solution also.

    No your equation is not correct,

    If you call the width of the rectangle x, then the length of the rectangle is x-4, and the area=96=width*length=x(x-4)

    surely you can solve the quadratic
