    Transformations/Basic Functions

    For the function $\displaystyle g(x)=$:

    a. Identify the basic function.
    I believe it is the root function ($\displaystyle f(x)=$).

    b. Identify all the transformations (in proper order) performed to $\displaystyle f(x)$ in order to attain $\displaystyle g(x)$.
    Well, from my really crappy understanding of transformations, there's a vertical shift upward by 2. I believe that is it. It also has a horizontal reflection.

    c. Sketch the graph of $\displaystyle g(x)$.
    After putting it into my graphing calculator, it looks like it has a vertical and horizontal reflection.

    Hi BeSweeet

    I think the basic function is correct. Then, it will change to :
    1. f(x) = $\displaystyle \sqrt{-x}$ ------> the transformation needed is ....
    2. f(x) = $\displaystyle -2\sqrt{-x}$ -----> the transformation needed is ....
    3. f(x) = $\displaystyle -2\sqrt{-x}+2$-----> the transformation needed is ....
