    Limits help

    Find the limits of:

    1. lim (cosx + tanx)
    x-->pi/6

    2. lim 1
    x->1 (x-1)^2

    any help?!

    You should know that for a function f(x) continuous at x_0 the limit as x approaches x_0 is f(x_0).

    This is applicable to this problem with f(x)=\cos(x)+\tan(x)

    As (x-1) \to 0 as x \to 1 what do you think happens to \frac{1}{(x-1)^2} as x \to 1 ?
