# Math Help - would this be a circle?

1. ## would this be a circle?

i am not exactly sure what this function is? and how would i graph it?

y^2-2x-20y+94=0

i do think that this is a circle but what to do with the 2x?
thank you!

Circle has $x^2 + y^2 = R^2$

Do you have an $x^2$ term?

you do realize that there are other conics besides a circle?

if your equation is correct, then it's a parabola ...

$y^2 - 20y + 100 = 2x + 6$

$(y-10)^2 = 2(x+3)$

$\frac{1}{2}(y-10)^2 = x+3$

$x = \frac{1}{2}(y-10)^2 - 3$

4. nope there is no x^2 term
maybe it is another conic then?

conic sections include circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas.
