    factor N^K

    hi, i am having problems factoring N^k, can any body help?
    i dont know if this is correct
    N^k= (N)(1+N^1+N^2+...+N^K-1)

    What are you trying to do? Where has your result come from? It's clearly false - substitute N = 1, say. Are the two sides equal?

    (n-1)^2|(n^k -1) iff (n-1)|k..
