    Red face [SOLVED] alphametric problems

    I'm unable to figure out the pattern for the problems below. I'd appreciate some help from anyone out there!

    Each letter stands for one digit 0 - 9.

    TRIED
    +DRIVE

    Here is a big hint.
    Look at the second colomn.
    You have one of two possibilities,
    E+V=E (mod 10)
    If the first colomn D+E<10
    Otherwise,
    1+E+V=E (mod 10)

    Thus, you need to consider two cases,
    When V=0

    Or when, V=9
